Annai Jothi Seva Home is a welfare and Rehabilitation Centre for the much-ignored section of the society - the mentally challenged. The school shelters 56 mentally challenged kids. Greetings from MYPEOPLE!

We need your help in running our Tirunelveli Orphanage. The government as per the Juvenile Justice act requires 8,745 Sq.feet of building and 8 staffs.

We have already 2000 Sq.feet and we need to construct another 6000 sq.feet.

We can somehow manage the staff requirement. We need good play grounds for the children near our orphanage.

We need 10, 00,000 (10 lakhs ) rupees and 5,00,000 (5 lakhs ) rupees to buy some land . It seems a big amount but we can work it out together to achieve this.

If we complete this construction then we can merge our Nagercoil and Tirunelveli Orphanages and almost 50 poor and orphan children will be benefitted out of this.

The tirunelveli Social Welfare department has given us sufficient time to build this orphanage. Please share this info to all your friends and relatives and let us together help our fellow Indians who are suffering.

We, the members of ‘Disha Foundation’ wish to bring to your notice, the appeal for distributing school uniforms to SPECIAL children.

Annai Home:

Annai Home is a welfare and Rehabilitation Centre for the much-ignored section of the society - the mentally challenged. The home shelters nearly 54 mentally retarded(MR) children and 23 normal destitute children (NC) and 7 MR adults too. This school is being run by Annai Jothi Seva Trust with 5 trustees, 5 teaching staff and 8 non teaching staff. The normal children are sent to nearby schools for their studies.

In the year 2000, they started a school for differently-abled children. Each MR child is trained according to his/her abilities. The end result is astonishing. You have to see it in person to experience the change in the child. One visit to Annai home convinces you that every child here is a child, perhaps, not a child endowed with all the normal capabilities but still a CHILD. Annai home aims at making these special children contribute to the society. Even when the parents think the children cannot be of any help, the school, with patience develops the talents of these children. It drives to make the society accept the special children as they are.

It gives us immense pleasure to share with you the great news that the Trust has recently been awarded an appreciation from Tirunelveli district collector, for their service to the mentally retarded kids.

Although the school for mentally challenged children is being run by the home itself, they have planned to provide school uniforms to the kids with the notion that:

·         The MR children will never undergo a feeling of discrimination from the normal children, when they look at normal children going to their school wearing school uniforms.

·         A school uniform can reinforce an academic setting, instill a sense of discipline and a feeling of belonging.

·         Students receive a self-esteem boost when wearing their uniform, which will have a positive effect on their work rate and achievement.

We have planned to provide three sets of school uniforms for each child. Please find below the cost details.

Recent Updates - SHaDE - Appeal for Notebook & Uniform Distribution

Dear All,
The appeal which I had posted earlier, regarding Fund raising activity for distributing uniforms and notebooks to kids at "Udhavum Ullangal, Adambakkam, Chennai" and "Sevalayam (Madurai)" and "LOTUS, Salem", have been fulfilled and the events are successfully conducted.

SHaDE | Fund Raising | Appeals - (1) Uniform Distribution (2) Notebook Distribution

Dear Friends,

SHaDE is an acronym for Share, Help and ADorE, run by a set of young and energetic volunteers who are interested in helping the society by the possible ways.

It’s founded and coordinated by one of my Brothers, Mr. Raghavan alias Saravanan.

Currently we have two ongoing appeals for the educational causes.

 1. Distributing Uniform to the kids at Udhavum Ullangal, Adambakkam, Chennai. Udhavum Ullangal is an orphanage and provides shelter, food for 100+ kids, having two homes in Chennai one is at Adambakkam and another at Maraimalai Nagar. We as a team, had visited the Adambakkam center on 1st week of March 2011 and had distributed groceries to the kids. We planned to distribute Uniform dresses to the students and each set costs around Rs 250/-. For a total of 105 kids, the total estimated cost is Rs 26,500/-.

 2. Distributing Notebooks to the school going children at Sevalayam (Madurai) and LOTUS, Salem. These two are our regular beneficiaries whom we help every month by sending around Rs 1,500/- to Rs 2,000/- every month from our SHaDE funds. Totally around 1000+ notes are planned to be distributed with our SHaDE logo and some motivational quotes on the either sides of the notes, it costs around Rs 28,000/- roughly.  

Having these two appeals on hand, we thought of raising funds as we had always been hearing from people to let them know of such appeals as people have an interest towards such educational appeals.

Help needed to develop website for Annai Home

Dear Friends,

I am seeking your advice to build a website for Annai Jothi Seva home - A welfare and Rehabilitation Centre for the mentally challenged kids. For more details on the home, Please visit the link:

The Home is in need of a website to propagate the noble cause it is working for, so that like-minded people will join hands and help them out. When they communicated their requirement, a firm called Sathya Technologies got in touch with them and had given them the estimate for developing the website. The overall estimate comes around Rs.13,000/-.

Personally I feel that the home has to encounter huge expenses if they outsource their website development to a private firm. Instead we can look for some alternative resources, so that the huge sum can be spent to meet the day-to-day expenses of the kids which they are already struggling for. I can think of the below options as of now.

·         College students interested in web designing projects can take it up and do it as a mini-project if they are willing to. Annai home is a registered organization and we can ask them to provide a certificate to the students.

·         Any volunteer/firm proficient in web designing can do it at free-of-cost or at a concession rate and contribute their part as a service to the needy kids.
